Louisiana Thespians exists as a non-profit theatre service organization for junior high and high school theatre programs. Students, teachers and art advocates. Each year the organization presents a statewide thespian conference hosting workshops, scholarships and performance opportunities for students.

Louisiana Thespians is an active member of The Educational Theatre Association (EdTA) and The International Thespian Society. The organization is recognized as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)3 of the IRS.

The Educational Theatre Association (EdTA) and Louisiana Thespians offer a wealth of opportunities to students and teachers. EdTA supports educators by providing professional development, networking opportunities, resources, and recognition.  Being a part of International Thespian Society gives your school National and International recognition similar to National Junior Honor Society. Members of EdTA receive the organization’s magazines, Teaching Theatre journal and Dramatics magazine. EdTA Members benefit from scholarships, grants and awards given to educators and students every year. Professional members receive discounts on EdTA’s annual Conference, an excellent professional development opportunity, with graduate and Continuing Education Credit often available. The Thespian Festival, held annually in Lincoln, Nebraska is an opportunity, for teachers to meet other professionals in their field, and a great time for students to audition for college and scholarships, see high-quality productions and attend excellent workshops.  Each January, students from across Louisiana attend the Louisiana State Thespian Festival, where they can audition for college scholarships, participate in classes, workshops, one act performances, and network with 600+ students and directors from across the State.  READY TO JOIN US?  Teachers, schools or individuals are welcomed to join and should contact the EdTA Membership Services at 513.421.3900 for registration information and for statewide events contact Kerry A.
